Introducing Body Fat Analyzers: the Tanita Scale

How do Body Fat Analyzers (Tanita Scales) help in our weight loss efforts? Normal weight scales are fine if you are only interested in tracking your overall weight loss, but as we have seen, weight is made up of water, muscle, bones and fat and when we say we want to lose weight, what we really mean is we want to lose fat. Using a body fat analyzer like the Tanita Scale is the only way to be sure that our weight loss is healthy, as well as decreasing our risk of many lifestyle diseases. Our goal should not be so much to focus on low fat and low calorie dieting and trying to lose weight quickly as it should be to increase our body's fat burning capabilities and lose fat slowly and steadily and in the process, re-establish our body's natural state of health and fitness.

But how do we know how much fat we really have and how do we keep track of it to see if we really are losing fat or if it is muscle and water we are losing. That’s where body fat analyzers like the Tanita Scale comes in. It is the perfect compliment to the "Diet Free ... At Last!" Weight Loss Program because it helps you to monitor your actual fat loss while following this healthy weight loss program, until you reach your ideal weight ... and then it continues to help you to maintain your ideal weight for life.

The Tanita Scale successfully monitors both your body fat and your overall weight and is ideal for tracking your weight loss and fat loss and making sure you are on track with your personal fitness goals.

The Tanita Scale is particularly ideal for personal use because of its ease of use, inexpensiveness, high accuracy rate and the fact that it can be used in the privacy of your own home without the need of very expensive, specialized equipment and experienced technicians.

How Body Fat Analyzers work

Body Fat Analyzers like the Tanita Scale use Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), which is a highly reliable and easy to use method of calculating fat in a matter of seconds, making this monitor perfect for home use. A safe, low electrical current is used and the rate at which it travels through lean muscle and fat is compared and measured. Since this current travels faster through lean muscle than it does fat, the speed it travels is incorporated into a formula taking into account your weight, height and sex and the result is a highly accurate calculation of your body fat percentage.

Accuracy

The Tanita Scale has been tested for accuracy through independent research at several universities and research organizations (including Columbia University in New York) and has been found to be accurate within + / - 5 percent of DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), which is known as the gold standard in body fat percentage monitoring.

Note: the Tanita Scale is not recommended for anyone with a pacemaker. Although there are no known health risks involved, this is a precaution recommended by all manufacturers of BIA.

Using Body Fat Analyzers like the Tanita Scale to measure your Weight Loss Success:

Using these scales as a measure of fat loss is better than relying on weight only as a measure of weight loss success. You may lose weight, but that weight loss could be water loss or muscle loss and not fat loss. With a BIA monitor, you can measure your true success by measuring the amount of fat you lose.

Note: Optimal body fat % for women is 21% to 35% and for men is 12% to 25%.
