Cellulite Cure ... Is There Such A Thing?
The consensus in the medical
community is that there is no such thing as a cellulite cure, but having said
that, there are many things we can do to reduce the appearance of cellulite
substantially. Although the many cellulite creams and potions on the
market do very little to reduce cellulite, there are a number of valuable
cellulite reduction techniques that are "alternative" in nature and can be quite
effective.
The holistic alternative approach to eradicating or reducing
cellulite seems to make the most sense given that it centres on the concept of
releasing the trapped fluids and toxins from the fat cells and eliminating them
from the body. Natural methods to help reduce fluid retention, including toxins
include:
-
Detoxification of toxins through supporting liver and lymphatic drainage
-
Exercise
-
Nutrition and Diet
-
Skin brushing (with a natural bristle brush) to improve circulation and waste elimination through the skin
-
Massage, including self-massage.
-
Aromatherapy
So let's look at each cellulite cure individually...
Detoxification through Supporting Liver and
Lymphatic Drainage
If indeed trapped fluids and toxins in fat cells causes cellulite, eliminating
these toxins through liver and lymphatic drainage detoxification makes the most
sense. Steps you can take to help in the detoxification process are:
-
Taking supplements that support the liver like Milk Thistle and liver tonics
-
Drinking herbal teas that support the liver like dandelion tea
-
Drinking lemon juice and water promotes detoxification
-
Drinking lots of filtered water (1 ˝ to 2 litres per day)
-
Eliminate foods that increase the possibility of food intolerances like dairy, wheat, corn and soy
-
Eliminate all processed foods
-
Skin brushing, massage and aromatherapy all support lymphatic drainage
Doing an actual liver detox is
the most effective way of clearing the liver and body of toxins and fluid
retention. It involves the above points and more.

Liver
detoxification is not only an excellent cellulite cure, it also helps to improve
overall health - Click here to find out about our NEW Exciting Liver Detox
Program!… Exercise (this is the cellulite cure that is
the most difficult, therefore the most unpopular!)
Since cellulite is
often the result of a sedentary lifestyle, obviously including exercise in your
anti-cellulite regime is very important. Exercise in particular increases blood
circulation, as well as stimulating the lymphatic system. The best types of
exercise to do are aerobic exercise, especially brisk walking and swimming. Exercise
also helps you to lose fat, which helps a bit with cellulite too. Also,
Pilates is becoming popular as a cellulite cure because it stretches and
strengthens muscles and helps to soften tightened fascia. (Fascia is a
tissue that surrounds every muscle, organ and bone in the body. When it
becomes taut and tight, it can contribute to cellulite by causing the connective
tissue (septae) to tighten and cause dimpling. Because of this, there is a
possibility that sufferers of fibromyalgia or myofascial pain who follow a
myofascial release treatment plan may find an improvement in cellulite as the
fascia softens and improves.)
Nutrition and
Diet (another cellulite cure that's not popular because it takes an effort!)
All the strategies
of the "Diet Free … At Last!" Weight Loss Program are anti-cellulite in nature.
The basic idea is to eliminate all "bad" fats like trans-fats and hydrogenated
fats, increase the "good" fats like Omega-3 and Omega-6, eliminate highly
refined carbohydrates, and eat lots of fruits, vegetables, low GI carbohydrates
and an adequate amount of protein. It is also important to drink at least 1 ˝
to 2 litres of filtered water (preferably with a good reverse osmosis filter) in
order to help the elimination of waste and toxins. As well, it is also helpful
to drink herbal teas like dandelion tea that help to support the liver and
promote detoxification.
Skin Brushing
(this cellulite cure is pretty painless ... and effortless!)
Skin brushing with
a natural bristle brush also increases blood circulation and stimulates the
lymphatic system. This in turn promotes elimination of toxic wastes and toxins
through the skin, thereby helping to release the trapped fluid and toxins that
cause cellulite.
Massage (this
cellulite cure can be rather pleasant!)
There are different types of massage that are very beneficial in helping to
reduce cellulite. One is self-massage where you massage the afflicted areas
using a mixture of carrier oils and essential oils. (See the next section on
aromatherapy for a helpful massage oil mixture to use.) It is also helpful if
you get a professional massage, including a deep tissue or lymphatic drainage
massage at least once per week. (It is also important to drink lots of water
(at least 2 – 3 litres) to help flush out the toxins that are released during
the massage, otherwise you could feel a bit nauseous or develop a headache.)
Aromatherapy (this is another cellulite cure that can be very
pleasant and relaxing!)
The best essential oils to use are those that stimulate the lymphatic system and
help the body to release toxins and waste materials (diuretics). The best
method to administer these essential oils is either in a bath or in a massage
oil mixture.
An effective mixture to add to your bath is 50 gm of Epsom salts mixed with 5
drops each of rosemary and grapefruit oil, and 10 drops each of geranium and
juniper berry. A helpful aromatherapy massage oil mixture to use is 25 ml of
apricot kernel and 25 ml of jojoba oil with 7 drops each of juniper berry and
geranium oil, 5 drops of rosemary oil and 10 drops of lemon oil.
