So What Would Be the Most Effective Fibromyalgia Symptom Treatment Plan for These Conditions?

It seems that one of the most effective fibromyalgia symptom treatment plans to manage these conditions is to find a practitioner like a bodywork / physiotherapist that is experienced in "Myofascial Release". In most cases, the pain associated with Fibromyalgia is connected to Myofascial Pain, which is caused by tightness and constriction of the fascia. The general consensus is that scarring or injury to this band of connective tissue is the main cause of pain and restriction of motion, with the fascia becoming taut and constricted. (This could be caused by falls, injuries, broken bones, sports injuries, repetitive motion injuries or even things like prolonged poor posture, illness or emotional stress.)

The aim of the Fibromyalgia Symptom Treatment of Myofascial Release is to alleviate pain by stretching or "releasing" constrictions or "trigger points" of pain in the fascia. This, in turn, releases pressure on all areas of the body, including joints, tendons, muscles and even bones and nerves, thereby giving relief from pain and restoring balance to the body.

Other Fibromyalgia Symptom Treatment Plans

Other Fibromyalgia Symptom Treatment Plans that might help in managing Fibromyalgia Symptoms and Myofascial Pain are:

  • Exercise. Even though exercising can increase feelings of stiffness and soreness, it is still important to include a regimen of gentle aerobic exercise, such as swimming, walking, stretching and strengthening exercises using exercise balls and elastic bands. This is particularly important as it will help your body to process excess lactic acid. Working with a “Myofascial Release” practitioner to formulate an effective exercise program / fibromyalgia symptom treatment plan is a must. They will be able to teach you which exercises and stretches (particularly with balls and elastic bands) will rehabilitate stiff, taut muscles, joints and fascia. It is very important that you not participate in intense exercises which would only exacerbate the problem by increasing lactic acid production by overworking muscles, joints, tendons and fascia (such as weight lifting, running, jogging or intense bicycling).
  • Seeing a Chiropractor can also be very beneficial because Chiropractic adjustments of the spine help to improve nerve function. (Misaligned vertebrae can cause damage or irritation to the nerves that run through the spinal column. This can affect how the nerve impulses are sent throughout the body, and can result in pain throughout the body, including Fibromyalgia or Myofascial Pain. Restoring nerve health can help tremendously with these conditions.)
  • Acupuncture is known to reduce pain and inflammation, as well as increase levels of serotonin which can help with fibromyalgia symptoms of sleep disorders, insomnia and depression.
  • If you suffer from low levels of serotonin or progesterone, or from impaired thyroid function or depressed immune system, it is important to try to address these concerns. In particular, low levels of serotonin have been implicated in sleep disorders and insomnia, which are common with sufferers of Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain. (The "Diet Free ... At Last!" Program includes information on how to do that in a safe and natural way.)
  • Stress plays an important part in these conditions so again it is important to try to reduce stress in your life. (See Section 16 of the "Diet Free ... At Last!" Weight Loss Program, as well as the e-book, "Learn How Stress Is Making You Fat!" for more information on the effects of stress on our health and ways to reduce and manage stress)
  • Widespread free-radical damage is quite common nowadays thanks to all the environmental toxins our bodies have to cope with. Free-radical damage is one of the most important causes of depressed immune system function, and depressed immune system function is a core issue with Fibromyalgia Symptoms and Myofascial Pain. Therefore, it is very important to try to combat free-radical damage through improved nutrition and supplementation, especially with anti-oxidants.
  • Supporting the liver in its job of detoxifying the body by improving nutritional intake and using supplements such as Milk Thistle, Dandelion Tea and Ginger Tea can be very beneficial
  • Of course, even though it may not be directly considered a fibromyalgia symptom treatment, nutrition plays an important part in coping with these conditions. Following the 7 Strategies of the Diet Free … At Last! Weight Loss Program will also have a positive effect on these conditions as well as improving your immune function. (One of the most important things to do is to decrease bad fats and increase good fats, as well as eliminating sugar and refined carbohydrates. These things also increase production of good eicosanoids, which again decrease pain and inflammation.)

Fibromyalgia Symptom Treatment: Natural Supplements

  • A few of the most effective supplements used in a natural fibromyalgia symptom treatment plan are:
    • Coenzyme Q10 … has many health benefits including increasing energy and boosting the immune system through its anti-oxidant power of combating free-radical damage. Because it aids in energy production, it is thought to be of use in managing conditions like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
    • MSM … this is a naturally occurring sulfur-compound nutrient that is found in food and has a potent healing property, particularly with pain and inflammation. Deficiency in MSM is quite common due to the highly processed foods we eat. The most sulfur-rich foods are eggs, red peppers, onions, garlic, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus and brussel sprouts. It can be taken in supplement form, as well as in a cream that can be applied to areas of pain and inflammation. As well as decreasing pain and inflammation, success has also been found in using MSM to treat cases of heartburn or hyperacidity as it helps to stabilise the digestive process. Other benefits of MSM are: helping with rheumatoid arthritis, muscle spasm reduction, allergy reduction, anti-parasitic including anti-Candida, softening scar tissue, hair and nail improvements, improved acne, helps with Diabetes, and even stops snoring (and much more)!
    • Calcium … helps the body to deal with lactic acid removal
    • Magnesium … helps the body to increase pain thresholds by working on the nerves and reducing the incidence of painful nerves “firing too quickly”
    • Malic acid supplements have also been known to reduce pain levels and can be a very effective fibromyalgia symptom treatment. Malic acid … sometimes called a fruit acid … is an alpha-hydroxy organic acid and is found in apples and fruit and can also be obtained in supplement form. Malic acid is usually combined with magnesium and has been found to be an effective combination to reduce pain and inflammation. Malic acid is important for manufacturing ATP, which is the body’s energy source, without building up lactic acid which causes muscle pain. This is why it helps, especially with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It can also help with stabilising weight because it increases metabolism of glucose by firing up the Krebs cycle. (This would also help with blood glucose metabolism and diabetes.)
    • B-Complex vitamins & Vitamin C
    • General anti-oxidants to support immune function
    • Digestive enzymes for anyone who has digestive problems, especially "leaky gut syndrome" which is often caused by Candida
    • Candida supplements for those who suffer from Candida. (Although the medical community doesn’t necessarily agree with the correlation between these conditions and Candida, holistic practitioners are convinced that Candida and leaky gut syndrome are often found to be an underlying condition (if not an outright cause!) of these conditions.) That is why it is very important to eradicate any suspected Candida infections. This is done both through supplementation, as well as eliminating sugar, refined carbohydrates and certain other dietary restrictions (see webpage "Candida Symptoms" for more information). This may be why many practitioners recommend eliminating sugar from the diet as a fibromyalgia symptom treatment … they have found that diets high in sugar seem to aggravate these conditions and increase pain levels.
    • Taking supplements like Milk Thistle, Dandelion Tea and Ginger Tea is very beneficial for anyone following an anti-Candida program as these help the liver to detoxify the body. (Increasing Vitamin C also helps to detoxify the body. Ginger Tea has also been found to be an effective fibromyalgia symptom treatment to help to alleviate fibromyalgia chronic pain.)
    • Oil of Oregano is another natural herb that has been found to help decrease the pain caused by Fibromyalgia.
    • Some practitioners recommend taking Tryptophan or 5-HTP supplements, which are precursors to serotonin production, however there seems to be some debate as to the safety of taking these supplements. If you would prefer to be cautious, you might want to try increasing levels of serotonin through natural methods first, such as is described in Section 10 of the "Diet Free ... At Last!" Weight Loss Program. Increasing levels of serotonin will help to improve sleep patterns and promote deeper sleep and is a very important fibromyalgia symptom treatment.
    • Increasing Progesterone levels with Natural Progesterone Cream (not synthetic Progestins which are used in most Hormone Replacement Therapies) can also be beneficial.

The above is just a sample of the many treatments recommended by both medical physicians and alternative natural therapists.  Click on the following link for more information on the "Diet Free ... At Last!" Weight Loss Program to see how to improve fibromyalgia symptoms naturally.
