Because the mainstream medical community hasn't found a "miracle drug / cure" for fibromyalgia yet, most people are left on their own to try to research the best way to manage Fibromyalgia.  

In the alternative fields, there has been considerable success in managing Fibromyalgia and reducing (if not outright eliminating!) pain levels and fatigue with nutritional supplements and diet. There have been many books written on the subject and much research that has been done trying to find the most effective methods of managing fibromyalgia.

The reason why alternative medicine has had a lot of success in treating fibromyalgia naturally is because rather than just prescribing drugs that attempt to relieve symptoms (which trigger many side effects which then require other drugs), alternative medicine focuses on finding the root cause of fibromyalgia, thereby attacking this root cause to find out how to treat Fibromyalgia naturally and eliminating it once and for all.

And what is the root cause?

There are many different health conditions that could trigger fibromyalgia, but the following list covers the most common ones:

  • leaky gut syndrome
  • food intolerances
  • imbalance of bad bacteria to good bacteria in the gut
  • insulin resistance
  • adrenal fatigue
  • stress
  • fluid retention (edema)
  • system wide inflammation
  • hormonal imbalances
  • thyroid dysfunction

Although fibromyalgia is not considered to be an auto immune disease, it is thought that this condition could have many similarities to autoimmune disease, especially in the levels of pain and inflammation throughout the body.

One of the main health conditions that is thought to be root cause of fibromyalgia is Leaky Gut Syndrome.

What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?

Leaky Gut Syndrome is a health condition (also known as Intestinal Permeability) where the integrity of the intestinal wall has been compromised causing microscopic holes which allow partially digestive food particles to pass through into the bloodstream where they create havoc in your body.

Your immune system is always on the lookout for foreign substances which it then the attacks. It is this process of attacking these foreign substances which creates massive inflammation in your body as well as hormonal balances which then creates an onslaught of health symptoms.

As a matter of fact, leaky gut has been implicated in formation of autoimmune diseases.  The latest research findings point to three major factors which trigger autoimmune diseases:

  1. a genetic susceptibility
  2. an environmental trigger (usually this is in the form of food intolerances, especially gluten and dairy intolerances)
  3. a leaky gut condition

When you have these three triggers, you have an elevated risk of developing autoimmune diseases in the future.  And once you have developed one autoimmune disease, you have a higher risk of developing other autoimmune diseases.

So in alternative medicine, the main focus for healing fibromyalgia is to get back to basics and give your body the support it needs to heal itself:

  1. follow a healthy detox program which cleanses your body of toxic overload caused by living in this in this modern world
  2. while detoxing your body, it is important that you eliminate all the highly processed, junkfood that has caused the problem in the first place

So What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a bit hard to describe because it’s more than just pain and tenderness throughout your body.  There is often a component of severe fatigue (chronic fatigue syndrome), as well as many other varied symptoms. 

And what makes it difficult to diagnose is that many people can have different symptoms and different degrees of severity from mild to severe.

But everybody who has suffered from this condition all feel the same:

They know that there is something wrong and it’s not “just all in their head”!  They feel tired all the time and have aches and pains and tenderness that go well beyond “being out of shape”.  There are lots of people that are out of shape, but don’t suffer from the debilitating symptoms that come with this condition.

The encouraging thing about Fibromyalgia is that you can overcome this condition, or at the very least, reduce your pain levels and the severity of the symptoms you currently suffer. 

I did and that’s why I wanted to write this program, so that I could help others to get the same relief I did.

I have had more than one doctor, (including a neurologist that diagnosed me with nerve damage in my legs and feet), who wanted to prescribe me with various pain-relieving drugs, including gabapentin which is an anti-seizure drug.  This was very disappointing for me because I wanted to learn how to treat Fibromyalgia naturally, not with drugs and medication. 

That’s why I created the Detox Diet for Fibromyalgia Program … I wanted to provide others who are in the same boat as me with various options that can help them to not only reduce pain and annoying symptoms, but to help them to re-establish their natural state of health and wellness.


So what are the common symptoms of Fibromyalgia?

If not, here is an abbreviated version:

  • The most common and chronic fibromyalgia symptom is widespread pain which can vary in severity and can change locations
  • Fatigue and / or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is another major fibromyalgia symptom
  • Stiffness which is most often noticed after prolonged periods of sitting or upon awakening after sleeping all night
  • Extremely stiff neck and shoulder muscles which often trigger headaches and facial pain, including TMJ dysfunction (temporo-mandibular joint in the jaw)
  • Lower back pain
  • Another very important fibromyalgia symptom is insomnia and problems sleeping. Many sufferers have trouble sleeping or feel very tired, even after sleeping a number of hours. They feel as though they have not slept deeply during the night and often wake up frequently during the night. Research has found that some people have disruptions of deep delta wave sleep and this may explain fatigue.
  • Foggy brain, problems concentrating, poor memory, difficulty thinking of words and names
  • Digestive problems, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome (constipation / diarrhea)
  • Ear aches, ringing in ears, itchy ears, buzzing, sound sensitivities
  • Gastric reflux esophagitis (acid reflux, heartburn)
  • Increased frequency of urination (especially at night)
  • Increased urgency to urinate (without bladder infection). Slight leaking when coughing, sneezing or laughing.
  • Depression, cry easily, mood swings
  • Plantar fascia pain (pain in bottom of foot near heel). Pain in foot is worst first thing in the morning when getting out of bed or after prolonged sitting. Again, this is a very common fibromyalgia symptom.
  • Pain in the chest and upper body (thoracic) and rib cage. Muscle pain in the rib cage and where the ribs connect to the breast can cause poor posture as well as cause people to breathe shallowly. (Shortness of breath)
  • Numbness and tingling, burning or stabbing sensations
  • Swelling of extremities (especially fingers, causing rings to no longer fit)
  • Tight Achilles tendons (this fibromyalgia symptom is usually connected to plantar fascia pain)
  • Leg cramps (again, this fibromyalgia symptom is often connected to plantar fascia pain)
  • Weight gain (this is partially due to decreased activity and exercising due to physical discomfort and pain)
  • Impaired Liver Function / Fatty Liver / Liver toxicity
  • Various hormonal imbalances are often experienced by Fibromyalgia sufferers including Thyroid, Adrenal, Cortisol and more ..
