So What do Candida Yeast Infection Symptoms Have to Do With Weight Gain?
As with many other
health conditions, candida yeast infection symptoms are a clue to imbalances in your
body that trigger many off-shoot conditions that form a vicious cycle where
weight gain is usually one of the unfortunate results. In particular, the
candida yeast infection symptoms that affect weight gain the most are food cravings
and digestive problems.
Candida
Albicans or Candida for short is the name given to yeast that lives in the
bodies of each and every one of us. These yeasts are generally found in
the intestinal tract and the vaginal regions. Under normal conditions, our
body is easily able to cope with the presence of these yeasts and our natural
defence system and beneficial bacteria control the spread of yeasts.
What are the main
causes of yeast infections?
There can be many
different causes of yeast infections. Unfortunately, there
are certain situations that destroy our body’s beneficial bacteria that keeps
the yeasts in check and when this happens, the yeasts can spread to areas that
are normally out of bounds. The introduction of birth control pills and
antibiotics in particular would probably be the most common causes of yeast
infections ... they have played havoc with our body’s natural defence
system of beneficial bacteria and have contributed greatly to the increase of
Candida in Western society.
What would be next
in line as the most likely causes of yeast infections? The biggest culprits would have to be the
abundance of refined carbohydrates, sugar-rich foods and junk foods our typical
western diet is composed of. This provides the perfect environment for the
proliferation of yeasts. Doctors can administer tests for Candida, but most
practitioners administer a questionnaire in order to determine if a person has
the common candida yeast infection symptoms.
So what are the most common candida yeast
infection symptoms?
As
you can see from the list below, there are a number of candida yeast infection
symptoms that are quite common and people might mistake them for symptoms of
other conditions. Of course, the symptoms that are the most widely
recognized as yeast infections are thrush (especially vaginal).
The
most common candida yeast infection symptoms are:
-
fatigue,
-
food intolerances,
-
poor memory,
-
feeling "spaced out", mental fogginess
-
lack of mental alertness, confusion
-
digestion problems (constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, bloating),
-
food cravings (especially for sweets, refined carbohydrates or alcohol),
-
erratic vision or spots before the eyes,
-
lack of sexual desire,
-
allergies (rashes and hives),
-
headaches,
-
mood swings,
-
dry mouth or throat,
-
heartburn,
-
nasal congestion,
-
bad breath,
-
thrush (oral or vaginal),
-
vaginal discharge / irritation or pain,
-
persistent cystitis, vaginitis or prostatitis … to name but a few!
How are food intolerances connected to candida yeast
infections?
One of the most common off-shoot conditions of
candida yeast infections are food intolerances. It is thought that the Candida
damages the intestinal walls causing a "leaky gut syndrome", which allows toxins
and incompletely digested food to enter the bloodstream causing food
sensitivities and other problems, including depressed immune system. In my
case, I had both Candida and food intolerances ... I have outlined below the
symptoms of food intolerance I had that have been alleviated by following the
"Diet Free ... At Last!" Weight Loss Program:
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Skin
rashes / hives
- Sinus
infections
- Nasal
congestion
- Heartburn,
reflux
- Food Cravings
- Constantly clearing throat
If you have many of
these candida yeast infection symptoms and think it likely that Candida is a problem,
you can follow a program to bring the infection back under control and if your
candida yeast infection symptoms improve or disappear, it is probable that
Candida was indeed
the culprit.
How do you
eliminate candida yeast infection symptoms?
There are different
ways to attack candida yeast infection symptoms, but my recommendation is to try the
natural method of diet and supplementation. The reason for this is because most
of the prescription "anti-Candida" drugs on the market are not very effective,
or if they work the first time, they are less effective with subsequent uses. (It's also not a bad idea to
discontinue antibiotic use or use of birth control pills. No matter which
method you try, do it under the care and supervision of a qualified
practitioner, particularly since the practitioner can adjust supplement doses to
counteract die-off candida yeast infection symptoms which often occur during the program
as Candida is destroyed. These die-off candida yeast infection symptoms can often be
unpleasant and make you feel quite unwell.)
In my personal case,
I used the ReNew Life anti-Candida program and was very impressed with the
results. The
recommended period of time to take the ReNew Life anti-Candida program is for 15
days, and if you have had a yeast infection for a long time, take 5 days off and
repeat the program for another 15 days. Because I have had chronic Candida
for many years, I decided to do the program twice. Before I started the program, I tested myself using the popular
"saliva test" or "spit test"
(see picture below) and when I was finished I
re-tested myself and sure enough, my saliva test was very different from the
first time and reacted more like a person that doesn't have a yeast infection.
How to take the
test...
Fill a glass with
room temperature filtered or bottled water. Before you eat or drink
anything first thing in the morning, spit a fair amount of saliva into the glass
of water. Leave the glass untouched for up to one hour, checking it every
15 minutes or so.
If you test positive
for Candida, you will find "string-like legs" travelling down into the water
from the saliva, as well as cloudy saliva collecting on the bottom of the glass
and cloudy specks of saliva that seem to be suspended in the water. Of course,
depending on how severe your Candida is, the saliva will react in varying
degrees. My first test was pretty severe, with my saliva breaking down
immediately! Of course, given my many years of battling yeast infections this
didn't surprise me in the least! If you don't have Candida, the saliva
should float on top of the water in a compact blob and not have any string-like
legs or cloudy specks of saliva floating in the water.
Because I was a
little sceptical of this test at first, I asked different members of my family
to take it for comparison purposes and sure enough, my saliva was the only one that
tested positive for the Candida!
If you are not sure of the accuracy of this test, you may prefer to answer this Candida yeast infection symptoms questionnaire...
Other than
supplements and probiotics, eating a healthy, well-balanced diet is a very
important part of the anti-Candida program. In many cases,
following the anti-Candida Diet Program, as well as the strategies to combat Estrogen
Dominance in the "Diet Free ... At Last!" Weight Loss Program, goes a long way
to restoring a healthy balance of beneficial intestinal bacteria to combat
candida yeast infection symptoms. If you would like more
